Apprenticeships

At Apex Collaborative Trust , we’re committed to giving our colleagues clear opportunities for growth, development, and career progression. We are delighted to offer a range of apprenticeships to support the growth and development of support staff. Apprenticeships are for everyone and our approach reflects the value we place on all 432 of our colleagues – each unique, valued, and deserving of CPD that meets their individual needs.

Depending on your eligibility, you may be able to complete an apprenticeship in one of the following areas:

  • Business and Professional
  • Teaching and Early Years
  • Finance

Apprenticeships – what are they?

Apprenticeships are funded development programmes that allow colleagues to gain a recognised qualification while continuing in their current role. These opportunities are available to all support staff. Other colleagues across the trust may be considered on an individual basis.

To ensure a consistent and high‑quality service, we work closely (but not exclusively) with LMP Education Ltd and Baltic Apprenticeships as apprenticeship providers.

How does the Apprenticeship Growth and Skills levy work (the funding)

Apex Collaborative Trust receives a limited allocation of apprenticeship funding, now known as Growth and Skills Levy (formally named as the apprenticeship levy). Because these funds are limited, it is essential that any training undertaken provides clear value to the trust and supports our commitment to improving outcomes for our students locally.

What are Apprenticeship Units?

A new government initiative – these Apprenticeship units allow the levy to be used on short, flexible training courses. These courses are shorter and support colleagues to address gaps in their skill sets and develop expertise.

English and Maths qualification requirements for applicants?

All new and existing adult apprentices, (who are aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship training), are no longer required to hold or achieve English and maths qualifications to pass their apprenticeship.  Apprentices will demonstrate their English and maths skills by using them in real work tasks as part of their apprenticeship.
